Solider Movie Review

Image
Solider is a 1998 action, drama, sci-fi film directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and stars Kurt Russell, Jason Scott Lee, Jason Isaacs, Connie Nielsen, Sean Pertwee, and Gary Busey. The film centers on a highly skilled soldier named Todd, who was trained from birth. Early on in the film, he ends up being deemed obsolete and dumped on a waste planet where he is reluctantly taken in by a community of defenseless, stranded wayfarers. When the army he used to work for comes and threatens the planet, Todd takes arms to protect the colonists, who exposed a more human side to his character through his recurring interactions with them. Going in, I'd had no idea what to expect in regards to the film's overall quality. Sure the premise has been explored in other sci-fi dramas, but the theme of what makes one human is a universal one and can still work when handled by the right hands. The cast includes very talented actors such as Russell, Isaacs, and Busey, who are always reliable in d

The Fountain Movie Review

The Fountain is a 2006 Sc-Fi, Drama directed by Darren Aronofsky and stars Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz. The film is about three storylines that deal with themes such as immortality and love. A  conquistador and his ill-fated queen, a modern-day scientist and his cancer-stricken wife, and a traveler immersed in a universal journey alongside aspects of his lost love. As far as mainstream directors go, few bear any similarities to Aronofsky's style. Films like Requiem for a Dream , Black Swan , and Noah  deal with very human stories in a very unconventional approach compared to something you would find in a summer blockbuster. Some may love it, others might hate it, but it's hard to deny how technically proficient Aronofsky is behind the camera. His films are notable for their sense of atmosphere, striking imagery, and excellent performances from his actors. And while there are some creaks in the foundation, there is a lot in  The Fountain that excellently demonstrates

The Top 10 Worst Animated Movies I Have Ever Seen

Image
And so it begins. In what I hope will be the start of a beautiful future, I've decided to center my first real big blog post on a rather peculiar, if already trended territory by others online. Why? Well, because I like to consider this post as me turning the last page of an old book before moving on to a new one. You see, before writing on Blogger, I've had already been writing about entertainment-related topics on sites like Letterboxd, WordPress, and even Facebook a few years back. And those reviews got the attention of my dear friends, who thought that they could get a good laugh by requesting me to review a few animated movies. Now me being the nice Joe that I am, I'll take on all of those requests. There was just one tiny little problem, however. All of those movies were absolutely horrid. For a while, my friends saw me as some sort of an online garbage trunk. They would just leave a bad animated movie by the side of the street, and I will do the res

Getting Back on the Saddle

Hello everyone, it's you're Regular Joe here. Consider this the first of many posts I'll have planned for this blog. Expect these posts to be centered on discussing movies, TV shows, and video games. So if you are into those subjects, then I hope these posts will be up you're alley. I really enjoyed writing about those topics and going in-depth on what makes something good or bad, and why. As well as encouraging you the reader to express you're opinions as well and being part of the discussion. Expect at the very least two posts per month, if not more. Life works in strange ways sometimes and it may keep me too busy to be able to write for you guys at times, but I will try my hardest to regularly update as much as I can. I have a very fun post that I've been looking forward to making for a while now coming up, so do please look forward to that! And ummm...that's just about all of the important details. Look forward to what comes in the future. 😊
